The Funchal Museum of Sacred Art is located in the former Episcopal Palace of Funchal, and contains a collection of paintings, sculptures, gold and silver pieces, and vestments dating back to the period between the end of the fifteenth century and the nineteenth century. Flemish from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries that arrived in Madeira during the peak period of sugar production on the island.
