The ruins of Roman tombs were found during the excavation of the foundations of the Avala Hotel between 1936 and 1938, where many graves dating back to the Hellenistic and Roman eras were discovered, along with many valuable pieces, such as gold, silver, jewelry, ceramic dishes, glassware, ceramics and weapons, and the cemetery It consists of two parts, the largest part belongs to the Hellenistic period between the fourth and first centuries BC, and the newest part belongs to the Roman period of the first and second centuries AD, and a total of 450 tombs were discovered, and these tombs are believed to have been used for more than a thousand years.
