Republic Square is the historical center of the city of Plzen. It is also one of the largest medieval squares in the Czech lands. It was built from the beginning of the city’s inception, at the end of the thirteenth century. It was paved with cobblestones in 1859, but the stones were replaced by an asphalt covering. In the twentieth century, surrounded by many monuments and antique buildings that are worth a visit.
