Red Square is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable landmarks in Moscow and Russia, and although it began its life as a log-hut town, it was converted in 1400 by Ivan III into a major city square comprising the Moscow Kremlin complex and St. Basil's Cathedral and Lenin's Mausoleum, and narrates to its visitors the rich history of Russia. Nowadays, cars are not allowed to pass through Red Square, as it is filled daily with tourists, wedding parties and photography professionals.
