The Rambla Méndez Nunez, also known as La Rambla, is a major thoroughfare that runs from the center of Alicante down towards the sea and the Esplanade de España promenade, separating the downtown district from the old neighborhood of Santa Cruz, connecting the city center to the port and sea line, and is the focal point of many festivities and parades. The main street in the city, and forms a very busy street that includes restaurants, office complexes, banks, and stores. The street also contains large sidewalks that allow restaurants to place tables and chairs in the street with room for many benches, tall trees and bus stops scattered along the road.
