Information about Qutab Minar
The Qutub Minar is an Indian historical landmark located near Delhi, and its lighthouse is the tallest of its kind in India and the second tallest in the history of the Islamic world after the Giralda in Seville. The complex includes other buildings and attracts large crowds of tourists every year. UNESCO has included the landmark on the World Heritage List. The lighthouse was built on the ruins of Lal Kot, the red tower of Old Delhi, which was built by Rai Pithura in 1180 AD, the last Hindu ruler of the Emirate of Delhi. The lighthouse is about 72.5 meters high, and red sandstone was used in its construction, while the last two levels were completed with white marble. Inside the building, the walls are filled with decorations, inscriptions and Quranic verses.
