The Qurayyat Fort is an exceptionally sturdy building in the city of Qurayyat. Recently restored, this 19th century fortress is a perfect example of the typical coastal defensive buildings in Oman with its high ornate walls and rotunda watchtower, while not always open For visitors, its exterior is well worth a look, and you can still admire the splendid old wooden entrance door flanked by two rusting cannons and shuttered windows on the ground floor that surround the building on three sides, suggesting that it was once a dwelling rather than a defense tower.
