Qubbat al-Hawa cemetery is located in western Aswan, south of the Nubian village. What looks like huge sand dunes covering an enormous formation of Nubian sandstone is home to one of the most famous cemeteries of ancient Egypt, dating back to c. 2500 BC. The main part of the site holds burials from the Old Kingdom to the New Kingdom.
