Al-Mashta Palace, the largest and most prestigious of the Umayyad palaces in Jordan, is located 30 kilometers south of the capital Amman and north of the northern runway of Queen Alia International Airport, and is easily reached through an 11-kilometre drive. It is a unique architectural masterpiece, extending over a spacious area and including a large group of columns, capitals, column bases, half arches and scattered carved stones, believed to be the oldest of its kind in the country.
