Qasr al-Abed is a large Hellenistic palace from the first quarter of the second century BC. Most scholars agree that this palace was built by the Tobiads, a prominent Jewish family of the Second Temple period. The palace was distinguished by its spacious and extended area, with an architectural design that combines classical and Hellenistic architecture, with columns, forts and huge walls engraved with distinctive motifs.
