Bongnamun Gate is the only historical treasure left of Jeonju Fort, which was built in the year 1338. The castle and all other gates were destroyed, but this gate remained standing. This gate is located in the southern part of the original castle. The gate has three floors, and contains guard towers, bedrooms, dining rooms, and more. Nowadays visitors come to this gate for majestic views of the old town.
