The Pre-Columbian Gold Museum is located in a modern building located at the bottom of the Culture Square on an air-conditioned ground floor. It is specialized in displaying a very large archaeological collection consisting of about 3,567 pieces dating back to before Columbus, and they vary between gold, ceramic, stone, glass and special jade pieces. In addition to animal figurines, amulets, earrings, coins and sculptures of veterans decorated with gold pieces, it also houses a replica of an ancient tomb containing 88 gold pieces discovered on a banana plantation in southeastern Costa Rica in the 1950s.
