The Portimão Museum opened its doors to the public in May 2008. It is located in the former canneries of Vaux Hermanus from the end of the 19th century which has undergone extensive restoration and re-design to adapt it to its new function, and today provides a space to discover the origins and development of the local community, its lands and highlights Its industrial and maritime history, and its permanent exhibition represents a historical synthesis of the social, economic and cultural trajectory of the people who lived in the area.
