In the center of the Plaza Circular there is a monument to Don Diego Lopez de Haro, named after Gran Via, who ruled Vizcaya as Signor de Vizcaya between 1170 and 1214, and is considered the most important landmark in the region. This bronze statue was carved in 1890 by Mariano Benlliure, a famous sculptor from Valencia, and the area is surrounded by many old buildings, shops and banks.
