The medieval city of Pisa was completely surrounded by the city walls of Pisa and extended for about 7 kilometers to protect it from invaders, and these walls stand at a height of 11 meters above ground level. The walls were built with a mixture of materials including gray limestone from San Giuliano Terme and Livorno, and the government is working hard to rebuild and preserve the walls so that visitors can get a unique view of the city.
