Pirogov Park, located on the slopes of Tommy Hill in Tartu, is the traditional gathering place for students, as it is a picnic area from March 15 to October 15, and light alcohol is allowed there during those seven months of the year. The monument to Dr. Nikolai Pirogov, who became famous in Tartu for his remarkable surgeries, was completed in 1952 and is a distinctive feature of this park.
