Information about Petőfi Bridge
The Petofi Bridge is located south of the Freedom Bridge over the Danube. In the past, it was called the Miklos Horthy Bridge and then the Petofi Bridge was renamed after the famous Hungarian poet and revolutionary Sándor Petőfi. Its construction began in 1933 according to the plans of Pál Álgyay Hubert, and it is worth noting that structurally it lacks the usual lavish decoration of Budapest bridges, at that time Hungary was struggling with political and economic problems, so the main goal was functionality rather than beauty.
