Abandoned and destroyed over time, the Pescant de Hermigua pier is an important historical site that reflects an example of old industrial architecture on La Gomera. It was built between 1907 and 1908 using stone, and a steam engine was used to lift and drop goods, animals, and people to and from merchant ships. Its main purpose was to export fruits such as tomatoes and bananas.
