Information about Patara Antique Theatre
The Patara Antique Theater is a Roman theater that was recently revealed after it was buried under the sand. It was founded in the Hellenistic era, and was completely remodeled in the Roman era during the reigns of Hadrian and Antoninus Pius. The construction of this theater is inspired by the theaters of the Roman era. It consists of two floors and five doors. It also contains a portico with columns on its northern side. Inscriptions indicate that the theater was rebuilt by Polyperchon (a monk of Apollo) at the beginning of the first century AD. It is also worth noting that the theater underwent renovations after the devastating earthquake in 140-143 AD, and it is now one of the most important and unique historical attractions in Antalya.
