Many locals and foreign tourists are keen to visit the Church of Santiago El Mayor, which was built in the twelfth century AD. With a 13th-century square floor tower, curved exterior walls, Arabic and Islamic inscriptions, and a decorative screen depicting Christ and Santiago, it is one of the city's most well-preserved historical sites to this day.
