Balipuram Fort in Kochi is the oldest European fort in India. It was built by the Portuguese in the year 1503, and many civilizations and colonies passed through it, as the Dutch captured it in the year 1661 and sold it to the British colonists in the year 1789. The fort is located in the far north of the island of Vippen in Kochi, which is hexagonal in shape and has a very wide area.
