Information about Palazzo Bianco - Genoa
The White Palace is one of the main buildings in the center of Genoa, Italy and contains the White Palace Gallery with many stunning drawings and paintings, one of the largest art galleries in the city, and along with Rosso Palace and Doria Tursi Palace, they form part of a group of museums at the end of this street . The palace was built between 1530 and 1540 by Luca Grimaldi, a member of an important Genoese family. The new owners, between 1714 and 1716, made a decisive restoration of the building, adapting it to the tastes of the times. Later it acquired the name of the White Palace due to the pronounced color of the exterior decoration. In 1899, Maria Brignole of Sale, Duchess of Galera and the last member of the family, dispossessed the palace and made it the property of the municipality and it was decided that it would become a public gallery.
