Founded in the early 14th century by the Knights of St. John, this magnificent and ancient palace is the most prominent historical and architectural landmark of Rhodes. It was the seat of the ruler and the administrative center in the Middle Ages. Its floors are paved with mosaics of ancient Roman and Byzantine art. The rooms also feature antique furniture from the 16th and 17th centuries, exquisite multicolored marble, carvings, carpets and beautiful oriental vases. While the inner courtyard is decorated with many statues of the Greek and Roman era.
