The city of Schefferin is famous for its picturesque lakes, and Lake Ostover is one of the most famous of these lakes, the water level of the upper lake is 39.8 meters above sea level. It is a lake suitable for practicing various water activities such as kayaking, swimming and fishing. The lake is surrounded by large green areas where more than 32 plant species native to the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region grow. The lake is also home to many species of birds, including the eagle of prey, the white-tailed eagle, and the gray heron.
