The Oriental Pearl Tower is 468 meters high, the fourth tallest in Asia and the sixth in the world. Its construction began on July 30, 1991 and was completed on October 1, 1994. It faces the Bund across the Huangpu River. Its structure was built using eleven steel balls of various sizes. Hanging from blue skies to green grasslands, creating a wonderful image, which was described in an ancient Chinese verse as: large and small pearls dripping onto a jade plate.
