Information about Old Aker Church

This characteristic old church is the oldest surviving building in Oslo, and the only surviving medieval church. Constructed in the Romanesque style in three dimensions and built of limestone. It is also believed to have been built by King Olav Kyrre in 1080. The oldest part of the surrounding churchyard dates from the 12th century. The church also contains a Baroque pulpit, a baptismal font from 1715, and a tower that was built in 1861.
