Built between 1886 and 1887, this 77 cm (30 in) telescope became the largest of the privately funded observatories, and the first at this altitude, at 325 meters above sea level. It was used in the past to monitor the movement of stars and planets in direct contact with NASA, but now it is part of a scientific institution that uses it in the study of space.
