Nossberg is a wooded ridge 93 meters high in a north-south direction. The hill probably got its name in the 13th century from the first owner of the quarry farm in Nossberg, an aristocrat named Nottberg. This area was once made up of a type of stone called Rogenstein, which was well suited for construction in the Middle Ages, and these stones were used in many buildings in the city.
