Information about Northwest African American Museum
The African American Northwest Museum seeks to present and preserve the connections between the Pacific Northwest and people of African descent, and to showcase and celebrate their experiences in America through exhibitions, programs, and events. This museum is located in Seattle, in the African neighborhood of Washington, in the building of the former Coleman School, which was built in 1909. The exhibits of this museum include artworks by African artists, most notably Jacob Lawrence and James Washington, in addition to exhibits on female African artists, educational programs, and others.
