Information about Niederwald Monument
This monument was erected between 1871 and 1883 to commemorate the unification of Germany. It is a very large monument with statues of angels with wings and creatures from the Bible, and the meaning behind these statues was that peace came between the two parties to the conflict by a divine miracle. The monument is located on a high mountain and is surrounded on all sides by vast green areas, from which one can obtain majestic panoramic views of the Rhine and the eastern and western parts of the city.
