Information about New Pinakothek
The original building of the New Pinakothek Gallery dates back to 1853 when the museum was opened, but it was destroyed during the Second World War, so the current exhibition of this museum was opened in 1981; It is worth noting that when Ludwig I commissioned the original building, his aim was to create a dialogue between the paintings by the Old Masters housed in the Old Janakothek Museum which stands opposite his more modern collection. The new building was designed in a postmodern style; The museum houses about 400 artworks from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
