Information about Neptune Temple
An ancient archaeological temple in Porec that dates back to the first century AD, and is the largest preserved temple in the territory of Istria. It was built on the ruins of a previous temple dedicated to the sea god Neptune. The temple is located inside the main Marfor Square, and it was believed during the Middle Ages that it was dedicated to the god Mars, and is Classification of the place as a sacred site due to its location on sacred land for the local people, and the temple still retains its external structure, internal walls and main elements of medieval architecture.
