The Museum of Natural History in Iai was established on February 4, 1834, on the initiative of some members of the Society of Physicians and Naturalists, and is the first museum of its kind in Romania. From other parts of the world, the museum's collections include more than 300,000 specimens, the most valuable of which are the collections of insects, amphibians, mollusks, reptiles, birds, minerals and plants. The unique nest and egg collections in Romania are of particular interest.
