The Natural History Museum Leipzig is a place for the collection, exploration and preservation of the natural resources of Northwestern Saxony in the fields of: geology, botany, zoology and archeology. The museum's collections contain a variety of valuable scientific exhibits such as evidence of local coal mining as well as evidence of extinct species of plants and animals. The museum's collection also includes numerous photographic documents of the development of Saxon life and landscapes since the late 19th century.
