The National Theater opened in 1981 and has three main halls: Martins Penna, Villa Lobos, and Alberto Nepomuceno. The theater has an irregular pyramid shape (without an upper edge) and is of a remarkable architectural form, designed by the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer. Its main entrance houses two important and impressive statues and hosts many great performances. It has a lot of plants surrounding the staircases and carvings and tourists can take pictures outside and inside.
