Information about National Theatre of Szeged
The Szeged National Theater opened in 1883 and is one of the most beautiful eclectic Baroque buildings in the city that has been reconstructed from its ruins. It was given a splendid elegance by the architects Ferdinand Felner and Hermann Helmer. The semicircular facade is decorated with allegorical figures of theatrical art. You can see the statues of József Katona and Ferenc Erkel, and it is worth noting that Zsigmond Vajda painted frescoes for the ceiling of the theater, which holds 680 people, and the theater contains three sections, which are opera, dance and drama.
