After a long process of redesign, the new National Theater opened its gates in 2002 near the Danube River. The theater is divided into three main sections. The building stands in a huge park that evokes the history of Hungarian theater and hosts a wide range of outdoor events in the summer. It is worth noting that the building and the garden together form an area of 21,000 square metres, making this complex the largest theater in the capital.
