The Irish National Museum of Decorative Arts and History was opened in 1997, and is located in a site that was originally a military barracks, and includes many distinctive and carefully selected collections of silver, ceramics, and jewelry, in addition to several pieces of furniture, and Irish high fashion. It has galleries dedicated to Irish military history, and there is also a permanent exhibition of designer Eileen Gray, who presents a collection of Irish silver from the 17th and 20th centuries.
