It is the first art museum built and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of Sri Lanka, housing exhibitions dedicated to the work of ancient and contemporary Sri Lankan plastic artists. The National Art Gallery documents various aspects of the ancient Sri Lankan civilization through a rich collection of eclectic paintings, and the National Art Gallery in Colombo provides integrated spaces for art lovers.
