Japan's first commercial radio broadcast began neither in Tokyo nor in Osaka, but rather in Nagoya, where it contained Japan's first multi-band radio and television tower, the Nagoya TV Tower. The tower was completed in June 1954, and at the time was considered an engineering marvel for Japan, which was emerging from the ashes of World War II, and today tourists visit it to enjoy its amazing views of the city and surrounding areas.
