Information about Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro
The San Gennaro Treasure Collection consists of artworks and donations collected in seven centuries by popes, kings, famous emperors and common people, all kept in the Museum in Naples. According to studies by a group of experts who analyzed all the pieces, the treasure of Saint Gennaro will be richer than the crown of Queen Elizabeth II of England and the Tsar of Russia. Undoubtedly, the treasure is a collection of artworks kept untouched thanks to the Royal Chapel of San Gennaro, an ancient secular institution, still in existence today, where donations are displayed in the museum. The museum was opened in December 2003 thanks to a project funded by private companies, European funds, local foundations and under the patronage of the President. You can marvel at the distinctive architecture, antiques and walls in this eye-catching museum, as well as some precious jewels.
