Set in a historic country house, the Villach City Museum offers guided tours and exhibitions to explore regional history and culture. Founded in 1873, this museum is one of the oldest and largest in Austria and is a history museum particularly committed to the history, art and culture of the Villach region. Each year, there are exciting special exhibitions for visitors dedicated to specific historical themes. As part of a permanent exhibition, a small selection (stone relics, bronze bell, etc.) from the extensive collections is on display. In 2017, the Villach Museum was awarded the Quality Award for 'outstanding museum work' by ICOM Österreich and Museumsbund Österreich.
