The Museum of Industrial Culture is located in an ancient building (former coal mine) with origins dating back 1,000 years. It is dedicated to documenting the industrial history of Lower Saxony since the nineteenth century AD and the beginnings of mining and industrialization in the region. This museum consists of several permanent and temporary sections that contain many of exhibits such as steam engines, old fossils and other collectibles show how Osnabrück transformed from an agricultural city into a vibrant industrial and economic city; In addition, there is a glass elevator that descends for a distance of 30 meters and leads to an underground tunnel with a length of up to 300 meters.
