The Museum of Dry Eshelen is located inside the Tongen Castle, which was first built in 1732, and the museum's historic building itself is an important element in the permanent exhibition entitled "Castle, History, Identity" with its magnificent underground tunnels and mines, where the building is still largely as It was when it was last extended in 1836, and during guided tours, visitors can discover more than 600 original objects and documents on permanent display behind the fortified walls.
