Information about Museo del Ferrocarril de Madrid
The location couldn't be more perfect or beautiful for this railway museum, located in the deserted Delíthias Train Station, with its lovely ambiance, and ancient design. The station opened in 1880, but closed less than 100 years later in 1969, and opened again in 1984 as a museum. Exhibits include locomotives, model railroads, rail equipment, movie clips and the memorabilia you'd expect. In addition, there is a room of hours (including the time marking the first rail journey in Spain, from Barcelona to the neighboring city of Mataro). This part is ideal for children, and is part of the practical experience for visitors, as it provides the opportunity to climb inside the engines for anyone who wishes to do so.
