The La Rochelle Museum of Fine Arts is located in La Rochelle; The building that houses the museum was registered as a historical monument on February 23, 1925. This hotel was built in the early 17th century; Created from works acquired since 1841 by the Society of Friends of the Arts, the collection grew throughout the nineteenth century with numerous purchases from regional artists, donations and legacies until the museum became rich with a collection of about 900 paintings and drawings.
