The museum displays artifacts and documents detailing life in the Alpes Maritimae province, dating back to the Neolithic, Antiquity and the Middle Ages. The ruins that can be visited include the museum building, the amphitheater and the baths of the 3rd century AD, as well as the cobbled streets and the Palaeo-Christian complex of the 15th century AD. The main building of the museum, which opened in January 1989, displays various collections of pieces from the Bronze Age (1100 BC) to the Middle Ages, such as ceramics, glass, coins, jewelry, sculptures and tools.
