The Murcia Cathedral Museum is located in what was known as the old Gothic monastery of the Basilica di Santa Maria, which was built during the reign of Bishop Penaranda in the fourteenth century. For many rehabilitation works, great care was taken during these operations in preserving and highlighting the Islamic archaeological remains in the building.
