The Municipal Museum occupies the former home of independence hero Adela Azcoy 1861-1914. The museum is characterized by its colonial-style construction and traces the local history of Cuba and the town of Vinales. The museum house opened its doors to the public on March 18, 1978 through two exhibition halls dedicated to the captain, and on March 18, 1982, it reopened as a museum The municipality in Viñales with six exhibition halls dedicated to natural sciences and municipal history. The museum now displays a new collection of five galleries dedicated to history, environment and ethnology.
