The Municipal Garden of Funchal is also known as the Dona Amelia Park in honor of the former Queen of Portugal. It is located in the center of Funchal, north of Arriaga Street, on the site of the former monastery of São Francisco. The park covers an area of 8,300 square metres, and includes a lake and a stream full of fish and birds, as well as plants from Madeira and other parts of the world, and there are also some artworks and a lecture hall that serves as a place for cultural activities.
